Lash Lift Aftercare: What to Do (and Avoid) in the First Few Days

The first few days determine how well your lash lift sets. This hour-by-hour guide tells you exactly what to avoid so the curl lasts for weeks.

Beauty notes from Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Barcelona

What you do in the 48 hours after your Lash Lifting influences the final result more than almost anything else in the entire cycle. The curling and setting products need time to finish working once you leave the studio, and that window of care is what determines whether the curl stays even for weeks.

Day One: No Water or Steam

The most important rule is also the simplest: avoid water, steam, and humidity near your lashes for the first 24 hours. The setting lotion is still working on the lash structure during that time, and water — even a simple splash while washing your face — can soften the curl before it finishes setting.

Hour by Hour After Your Appointment

0-2 hours: fresh out of the studio. Your lashes are at their most delicate right after the silicone shields are removed. Avoid rubbing your eyes and any activity that makes you sweat heavily.

That night: mind how you sleep. Try to sleep on your back, or avoid pressing your face directly into the pillow. Pressure on freshly treated lashes can flatten the curl on one side.

Day 2, morning: the 24-hour mark. Once that window has passed you can wash your face normally, though it's best to stick to light, oil-free formulas for one more day.

What to Avoid in the First Few Days

  • Oil-based makeup removers and cleansers. Oil breaks down the curl's effect faster than water-based formulas.
  • Saunas, steam baths, or hot yoga classes. Heat and humidity soften the result just like water does — better to wait until the 48 hours have passed.
  • Mascara, even gentle formulas. Wait the full 48 hours before applying any product to your lashes.
  • Rubbing, pulling, or touching too much. It is tempting to touch your freshly curled lashes, but repeated contact is the most common cause of an uneven result.
Think of the first few days like letting a coat of varnish dry: the result is already there, it just needs you to leave it alone.

Is Any Special Care Needed After That?

Not really — and that's one of the advantages of lash lifting over other techniques. Unlike extensions, there is no need to book touch-ups or follow a daily brushing routine. After 48 hours, your lashes behave as they always do, just curled: you can exercise, sweat, remove your makeup, and wear mascara as usual for the rest of the cycle. The Quick First-Days Checklist

If you only remember three things: keep your lashes completely dry for the first 24 hours, avoid oil-based products and steam for 48 hours, and do not touch them more than necessary. The rest of your routine can stay the same — this is a treatment designed to fit into your day-to-day, not the other way around.
